After a big countdown in store, our Annual Doggy Photo Day in support of one of our favourite charities, Friends of Wingcarribee Animal Shelter, finally rolled around… with more mist and drizzle than you could poke a stick out.
Of course, it being just a handful of days until Summer, we had planned for a range of fun outdoor festivities to celebrate our four-legged best mates and raise money for this fantastic cause, but the weather certainly was determined to put a damper on those plans!
Not a team to be put off by a bit of water, we jumped into Plan B! We put our veranda to good use, and set up our very own Santa’s helper right inside, so everyone could get some great happy snaps that no doubt will adorn the walls of houses in the Southern Highlands for years to come.
Despite somewhat of a ‘ruff’ start, the day turned out absolutely ‘pawfectly’ (sorry, couldn’t help ourselves!), with lots of smiling faces, barks of appreciation and not one single doggy accident inside the store!
Our local photographers were on fire, and produced beautiful shots of families and their pups, with everyone lapping up the happy vibe and really bringing in the Chrissy spirit.
Congratulations to our raffle winners, announced a couple of days after the event. They’ve taken home prize packs including doggy treats, premium dog food and sleeping accessories.
Doggy Photo Day is one of our favourite annual events in store, for two big reasons:
Firstly, it is such a light-hearted and joyful opportunity to get together with members of the community and their entire families (including dogs!) and bring in the Christmas season with positivity and laughter.
Secondly, it is a chance for us to roll up our sleeves, get in there, and support yet another of the organisations in our local area that has dedicated itself to helping out others; in this case, animals. The work of FOWAS is incredibly admirable, and we couldn’t be more proud or pleased to continue to support them!
If you weren’t able to make it on the day, you can still support Fowas through donations and volunteering, by visiting their website.
Enjoy the silly season, and this special time with family and friends.
